Ulrich Scholz advises on all aspects of German and European antitrust law, as well as energy and regulatory law. His practice in antitrust law focuses on European and national merger control, conduct requirements for dominant companies, and the design and evaluation of distribution and pricing strategies. In this context, he represents companies in proceedings before the European Commission, the German Federal Cartel Office, and national and European courts.
In the area of energy and regulatory law, Ulrich Scholz represents energy supply companies before regulatory authorities as well as in court and arbitration proceedings. Another focus of his practice is advising energy suppliers, financial investors, and industrial customers on the requirements under European and national law regarding the structuring of corporate investments and the drafting of operational contracts.
Ulrich Scholz joined LEITFELD Rechtsanwälte as Of Counsel in June 2026. Prior to that, he worked at the international law firm Freshfields from 1996 as an attorney and, starting in 2002, as a partner in the firm’s Antitrust Practice Group and Energy Sector Group.
Ulrich Scholz studied law at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Bonn and subsequently served as a research assistant at the Institute for Energy Law at the University of Cologne while pursuing his doctorate. He earned his Master of Laws at Tulane Law School in New Orleans, USA.

Ulrich Scholz regularly gives lectures and publishes articles on regulatory and antitrust law topics. He is also a co-author of several handbooks and commentaries on antitrust and energy law. He is a member of the Antitrust Law Study Group, the German Institute of Arbitration, and the German-American Lawyers’ Association.
